"Promoting the Science of Sterilisation"
New Oval Compact-PCD®
Helix Green
gke
OFFICE BASED PRACTICE/DENTAL
Process Challenge Device
(Helix) BMS
Features
The
Bowie Dick Test is carried out daily in an empty chamber of a pre vacuum
steam steriliser at start up in accordance with AS/NZ 4187
(2003).
The Bowie Dick Test is a functionality check to prove air removal and steam
penetration to EN 285 and EN 554. The purple Compact-PCD™
is able to simulate the characteristics of porous goods and solid
loads concerning air removal and steam penetration. The Bowie Dick
Test does not replace the Batch Monitoring System (hollow instrument
monitoring) during the sterilisation process.
It also monitors the performance of the seals and gaskets of the steriliser.

The new Compact-PCD®
with an oval case is placed horizontally on the flat side of the
PCD.
This type of construction (2.5cm
height) is designed especially for small B Type Benchtop pre vacuum
Sterilisers
The gke Compact-PCD®
stainless steel helix is new technology for better performance in
monitoring air removal and steam penetration on the inner surfaces
of handpieces and hollow instruments.
Internal Sterility Assurance
Levels (SAL) cannot be achieved only measuring physical data
like pressure and temperature.
For a SAL on the inner surfaces of handpieces and
hollow instruments A PCD is
recommended for monitoring the performance of the
sterilising process in every load containing handpieces and
hollow instruments..
Operational Description
The
gke
Compact-PCD® is a reusable
system with unlimited cycles.
One chemical indicator is placed into the device per load.
On completion of the cycle (sterilising process)remove the
indicator from the inside of the Compact-PCD®
. The correct colour change of the chemical indicator
should be four black bars (see above) proving that the sterilisation
process was successful in terms of air removal and steam
penetration.
Features
A legitimate Time/Steam/Temperature (TST) chemical indicator that monitors
and gives results on all 3 requirements.
The indicator is adhesive for documentation requirements if required.
Full conforms to AS/NZ 4815 and ISO 11140 part 1
Further detailed information regarding Class 6 Chemical Indicators is
available via the link on our product page.

gke Patient Tracing System for Dental Practices
The gke
Patient Tracing System has a piggyback label with a
steam process
indicator which has a distinct colour change
from
blue to brown after the sterilising process (see below).
The piggyback label is adhered onto each pack/item in
every load. A corresponding
label is also placed onto the documentation/record sheet providing a
permanent record of the load information eg. date etc plus proof of the
process. This is the permanent
proof and insurance that the surgical pack did go through a sterilising
process if required in the future.
Note: the gke
labels can be used in combination with a computerised system.
